This was nearly my pick of the week.  A fantastic third act to this crossover.  With (I know, I know, you can say this of every Dark Reign/Seige book from the last two hundred years {{it has been 200 years since Dark Reign started, right?}}), a last page Sentry reveal that will BLOW YOUR MIND.

But, seriously, uhhh…wow.  A couple great developments here.  And the artwork is a big, fat Copiel yes, if you’re into the whole Copiel thing.

Was this comic worth the previously aforementioned 200 years of Dark Reign.  I think so.  I thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink so.

Story: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. I second Dark Reign taking waaay too long.  This issue was action packed and got me excited for issue 4, which is impressive as I wasn’t really a fan of 1 and 2

  2. @owlyfan: I’m with you on sort of shrugging my shoulders at issues one and two.  Mostly because I’ve never felt any sort of emotional investment in Asgard or any of the characters who hail from there.  But beating the crap out of Norman Osborn?  Hell, yes.

  3. The problem with Dark Reign wasn’t its length. I think it needed a while to settle in so we really yearned for this upcoming Heroic Age. No,the problem with Dark Reign is that instead of just treating it as a change in status quo, every single marvel book spent a significant amount of time with Osborn as the villain. He was monstrously over-exposed, half of the writers didn’t write him well at all, while the other half all took different takes on him creating a character continuity nightmare. He should have just loomed in the background of 95% of the books, but instead most made him actively the villain. He can’t be everyone’s villain! Not even Doom can do that and he is the greatest villain of all time.
