Bendis always writes great dialogue and I am generally a big fan of his work but man did he drop the ball here. The story itself is solid but unfortunately in this issue Bendis falls into one of the worst writing traps: he does too much telling and not enough showing. Instead of allowing the amazing Coipel art tell the story, Bendis feels the need to fill up most of the pages with a ton of unnecessary and distracting captions that ruin the pacing of the story. I can see what Bendis is trying to do here but he could have shown the reaction of the President in a more effective manner. I understand that the series is only four issues but that doesn't mean Bendis should be jamming 5 or 6 issues worth of words into four issues. The first time I read this issue I was really disappointed because I enjoyed the first two issues a great deal and couldn't wait to get home from the comic shop to read #3. After a second read through, without the unnecessary captions, I felt much better about it. Overall a decent issue but easily my least favorite so far.
