This is the issue where I realize that waiting for the trade might’ve been a good idea.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a solid issue all around. With a intriguing plot by Morrison and beautiful artwork by Murphy it’s par for the course like the first two issues. I love the introduction to these dwarfs and this ‘giant among dwarfs’ character is a nice comical relief. Plus this rat Yojimbo is a great character to play along with the story. He’s sorta the generic buddy you need for a fantasy story like this. The artwork by Murphy, again, is also pretty damn gorgeous as usual. The sequence where the creatures are chasing the submarines is just perfect. Love the coloring with Dave Stewart also, he is definitely making this look more magical with his bright colors.
I do mean that I think waiting for trade is a good idea though. This story is moving at a snails pace, if I’m honest. It’s silly, it’s exciting, it’s fun, it has beautiful artwork; all of that is for sure. But maybe reading this in a whole sitting in a trade format would be more suitable with this series. Having said all that…..I am committed to continue this series in issues because I am a diehard Morrison fan and I can’t deny how fun it is to read this series. Even if it is a bit of a slower burn to my liking.

Too good for me to trade wait. A little at a time is better than waiting all that time. Like the twist at the end as well.
