Everyone, myself included spend a great deal of time talking about Grant Morrison
when talking about this series.  Is he
creating genius, or insanity?  And is he
ever going to let us know just what is going on in this series?  In this issue Morrison is able to answer all
of those questions.  At this point the
series is now everything you think it is and everything you think it might
be.  While reading this issue I was very
much reminded of The Wizard of Oz.  We could argue back and forth all day as to
whether or not Dorothy actually went to Oz.
But that debate is missing the point of the story.  This series works best when you just let
Morrison, and maybe more importantly, artist Sean Murphy take you on the
journey.  Focus on that journey, not the
destination.  And since I brought up Sean
Murphy, I have to mention just how beautiful and captivating his artwork
is.  At a glance it’s gorgeous and when
you take the time to really take it all in, it gets even better.  Murphy’s artwork is telling as much of the
story as are Morrison’s words.  Joe’s
imagination becomes an even bigger and more wonderful place in this issue, and
it’s easy to see how Joe could get lost in it.
