For the last time Geoff Johns: I want a Hal Jordan and Barry Allen team up comic! You have written these two perfectly for Blackest Night #0-1, and now you've done another perfect issue with these two together.

The interaction between these two are just amazing to read. It really feels like your reading a buddy comic. These two are the best of friends and anything they discuss is really good. Some of the highlights are:

Barry Allen discussing about the internet.

Hal and Barry arguing on how Clark was able to keep his secret identity.

"Hal, get it together! The Flash doesn't fly!!"

The twist of Barry accidentally fighting Hal.

Those are the best moments of this comic when it comes to those two. But there's more to this issue then just those two. You get a great read of J'onn throughout this whole thing. Whether it's J'onn just acting like a zombie, trying to claw out his friend's heart; or just using his tactics to weaken the heroes is just plain fun to read. Also, probably my favorite line of the week goes to him saying:

"I'm as powerful as Superman. Why does everyone forget that!?"

Then you have Mahnke on art in this. God damn this is a good looking comic. This is beyond the 'oh well it's better then the Tan's on this' type fo comment. Why Mahnke couldn't do this series earlier, before Agent Orange, is beyond me. I don't mean this as a negative on Ivan Reis. But if him and Mahnke could've done every other arc together then this would be a pick of the week title every single time. Just the detail in every single panel, from the amazing beginning of J'onn's tomb to J'onn destroying a firehouse; it looks simply amazing. If there is one tiny, little nitpick for him its the faces. Sometimes I think they are a bit off putting sometimes. Like...well it's a bit hard to describe. For all the Half-Life fanatics, if you ever heard of Garry's Mod, then you get an idea of why I think these faces are off putting. Just disturbs me sometimes.

This is the third straight GL title that has totally knocked me off my feet. Blackest Night has barely started but it's already turned into my favorite event to come out of DC. (Go to hell Final Crisis!....not really...) With the Black Lantern battery slowly charging to 100%, it's gonna get even more insane before the true mastermind comes to light. With the rate Johns is going on this, I think it's safe to say the mad genius is back on writing amazing stories again.

(I even forgot to talk about John Stewart in this issue! Now we know why he's gonna play a huge factor in this entire event.)
