Hush as a character has been around for about six years now. Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee tried to make this the next big villain for Batman; they ultimately failed. For years the character has been trying to live up to potential, but the fans wanted nothing to do with the guy. He almost had a Sentry-like level of hate. But for the last six issues (or six months), Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen has not only made Hush as a character work. But they also have made him one of the more formidable villains for Batman.

I dont know how Dini did it; whether it's by a better origin story or just made Hush a better overall character to make him work, but he did it. I love Hush now, cause now that he is disgusing as Bruce Wayne; there's all sort of crap Elliott can do and get Wayne in trouble. That essential is what this issue is, as Tommy tries to regain his $200 million fortune by basically stealing from Wayne. I just love how arrogant Hush has become and some of his ways of getting the money is just evil. From pretending to love a woman, then poison her just to get her yacht for $800,000 is just plain evil. He also steals some more millions from other Wayne enterprizes and you can just tell how more smug Elliott is becoming. There are some other great little moments; like Elliott being saved by an Austrailian Superhero. Incidentally, if anyone knows if that is a real hero or a made up one let me know. But in the end, it all goes under for Hush as the only woman who knows his secret kidnaps him and god knows what Selina is gonna to do him.

My opinion of Dustin Nguyen has drastically changed since Detective Comics #850. From that issue on I have started to love the style of Nguyen. I've gone back and read some more of his work in the 'Private Casefile' HC and all of his art there is great. It might be because he does some of the back background layouts I have seen in a comic. That panel with Elliott on the peir with the other boats look so realistic. His character models are simplistic in a lot of ways, but detailed in another. He can make them look simplistic just to make the backgrounds the focus of the panel; but if he's doing a close up of a character he can just make them look so beautiful. So the art is definitely a great reason to pick this issue up.

I dont know where this two parter is gonna lead us. Will Catwoman be a villain again? Will Hush be killed or be joined by Selina? Why does this have to leap in the Batman comic and not for another issue of Detective? This will all be answers, except for the last, in the next issue for Batman I'm sure. So I would definitely say this is a must buy for anyone who just wants a fun romp threw the Batman universe.
