Show Notes

Running Time: 00:15:00

Taskmaster has been running around the Marvel Universe for over three decades. Whether he's fighting the Avengers, Moon Knight or Spider-Man his ability to perfectly mimic the skills and fighting styles of anyone he sees has made him one of Marvel's most formidable foes. But there's a heavy price to pay when you have to lose memories in order to create new ones. Writer Fred Van Lente explains how his new origin for the character explains how Taskmaster may be one of the most misunderstood villains in comics. And there are aliens on motorcycles.

  1. The first issue of this series was phenominal.  Loved it.  Kinda petered out at the end, but good overall.

  2. One of my favourite mini-series from Marvel in a long time. Just fantastic

  3. I thought the mini was fine but kind of discounted the development made in Avengers Initiative.

  4. @Minion  A fair point. But this made Taskmaster a much more interesting villain I thought. Truly one of the best minis of the past year. Rare to find something so hilarious and off the wall yet also shockingly emotional as well.

  5. Heard nothing but great things about this, definitely gonna get it when I see it in the store.

  6. Very good mini. Glad I read it.

  7. Easily one of the best series of last year. I highly recommend it to everyone.

  8. it was fun. making taskmaster a misunderstood good guy was a good idea.

  9. I’ve been waiting for this trade. Thanks for the interview. I’ll enjoy he comic even more, now.

  10. Hoooooooooooly crap. I would have never even thought about reading this. Even though I like Van Lente, mostly for his recent work on ASM, Taskmaster is a character I have no affection to. But all I can say is WOW. Thank you for spotlighting this. The art is friggin gorgeous. Like Chaykin meets Sean Murphy. The humor is wackey and truly laugh out loud funny and it really made me care about Taskmaster. Thanks again, this has made me want to read more Van Lente.

  11. @OnASunday  I totally agree. JRJR meets Chaykin meets Frank Miller. Great storytelling.

Thanks for the interview. This is an absolutely dynamite story with excellent art. Secret Empire, ftw!

Buy this book, or read your friend’s copy! This is the adventure movie I had only hoped a Taskmaster comic book could be. Henchmen Unite!!!
