  1. *sigh*

The only book I’m really gonna miss once September hits. I doubt we’ll ever see this again but maybe someday DC will get Rozum and Irving to work on something else in the future.

  2. Agreed, I will miss my monthly dose of awesome. I hope we get some decent closure as far as the story goes. Another rad cover to stare at, and I’m sure a story that will make me think.

  3. What I think they should do, is add David to one of the super natural based comics they have. Either :

Swamp Thing, Frankenstine, Resurrection Man, I, Vampire, Voodoo, or Justice League Dark

I think he can work in any of those books.

  4. This was my favorite new series of 2011 hands down.

Rozum and Irving are a GREAT team together for this character and this world!

  5. Avatar photo JeffR (@JeffRReid) says:

This series lost me months ago, but I’m glad that I can easily go back and read these six issues all in a row. Also, each page is absolutely engrossing. So pretty.

  6. I wish Vertigo would take this on. Great writing combined with beautiful, orginal artwork. You fools DC! You fools.

  7. Part of me is happy that I even discovered this amazing comic, the other parts are sad and angry. I like DC, they are probabaly my favorite, but they completely screwed up in the way they handled this book. Total travesty.

  8. Wow. I haven’t heard a damn thing about this book and I just randomly decided to read the comments just now.

Blown away by how much people seem to really enjoy this. How’d it not get more exposure?

Kinda sad I missed out now. Gonna have to grab this in trade.

    • Do it!! Rozum said that there is a decent to good chance the original run (20-some issues) could get collected if the pre-orders/orders for the trade are high enough. Get it and tell your friends!!

  9. Great series coming to a premature end. 2012 revival a must!

  10. A great end for a pretty damn good series. Rozum clearly had to rush the story but he wrote it in a way where it had a satisfying ending even if this wasn’t meant to end at issue #6. We’ll never see such imaginative creatures like in this issue in a comic again. Also, this series had the best work Frazier Irving ever did in his career. I’m gonna miss this book. I hope these two at least get to work on another series in the future.

    4/5

  11. oh well. it was fun while it lasted. here’s hoping Irving gets put on another series fast.

  12. Best series of 2011.

  13. The stoosers at DC are too busy selling out to appeal to the masses, e.g. their Flashpoint hyper-oversaturation.
They sure can fleece schnooks by pumping out those 1 outta 5 star review Flashpoints, but when it comes to a book with some class, that everybody loves, they don’t hear us. The DC decision makers are not only asleep at the wheel, they’re in a coma behind it. Sell outs

  14. This is the exact type of book that the publishers should NOT reprint in trade or HC. We all know that the front end comic sales stoke the fires to continue a series. This series died b/c not enough people bought it on the front end.
We loyalists get screwed out of a good production, while those who hadn’t any skin in the game get rewarded by a trade they can readily pick up down the road. Fuck that.

If the publishers switched to a model of uncertain TBP availability (coupled with better marketing, obviously)
Then good series like this wouldn’t die on the vine as often since it would force more consumers to buy it upfront.

  15. I love these six issues, especially the final one. The thing was completely original and different than anything else I read. I wish we had more books like this.

  16. I think we should all just be happy we got to read this … fun story, amazing art, cool characters; everything I love about comics! Hey, and we can feel smug that we knew about it when other people missed out 😉

  17. What a great read again! Definitely Pic of the Week for me. So sad this is gone now. But like @mithrandir and others have said before we should be happy we got to read this story and knew about it. I hope this will be selling like hot cakes when it gets released in tpb. I will certainly get it. And that it will show DC there IS a market for this sort of book. Wishful thinking maybe, but I’d love for this to continue at some stage, or at least see some of these characters show up somewhere…

Anyone knows what Frazer Irving will be on next? I know he’s doing an arc in The Shade, but not sure about anything else.

  18. Please DC, continue this book at Vertigo!!!
