  1. Really excited for this, totally loved Avengers last week even more than Infinity #1!

  2. Why is Mike Deodato getting so much work on the Avengers titles? His art is the only let down so far in what has been a stunning run on both series (I will concede that a couple of Kubert’s pages weren’t great either but overall his issues were good) I guess he must be the only one who can pump out the pages in time, that doesn’t mean they’re any good though.

    • Shrugs. I like his art. I think it’s improved over what it was a few years ago. I’ve been happy with the art on both Avengers Now! books and think that Deodato has been second only to Opena in terms of the best artists so far. I’d definitely put him over Caselli (not that Caselli’s bad at all), and I wasn’t that impressed with what Weaver gave us. I like Weaver but he’s nowhere near what he was on SHIELD, and meanwhile I think Deodato has leveled up. Kubert underperformed a bit.

  3. The tie-in for AVENGERS are awesome-sauce. Gotta imagine this will be just as good. Although I hope Deodato improves from last issue.

  4. Well, maybe I will stick around through Infinity.

Curse you guys and your enthusiasm.

  5. I’m convinced a Hickman written Black Panther ongoing would pretty much be the best thing ever.

  6. Can’t wait to read this! As far as I’m concerned the Illuminati is a great concept!

  7. The writing, of course, is great, but I am so impressed with Deodato’s art here. I never cared much for his art but I think this has been great.

  8. Well, Hickman is now 3/3 when it comes to INFINITY.

Great issue and I’m so engrossed in this story. Loved the twist involving Namor, the fact that Thanos is (once again) trying to get the Infinity Gems, and Hickman does a good job making this new threat with ‘The Black Order’ formidable. Of course, Black Dwarf had no chance against Black Panther and it was funny we didn’t get to see that beatdown. The art by Deodato was a bit rough in some places and models were a bit off. McCoy looked like an ape in some panels. But for the most part it was pretty good and it’s an improvement from last month.

So yeah, INFINITY is really turning into a fantastic event; tie-ins and all.

    4.5/5

    • I haven’t read this issue yet (so I might be missing your point) and I don’t know if you keep up with X-Men, but McCoy experienced another mutation in the early issues of All-New X-men and now has a more ape-like look.

    • @Ken: I knew he was mutated into this form but, like new Iron Man armor, artists don’t do anything to make it uniform. It looks like Deodato literally found an image of a Gorilla and did a ‘Greg Land’ by tracing it onto the panel.

  9. JML (@twitter.com/JoshMLabelle) says:

Man, I was pretty frustrated with Hickman’s Avengers run for the couple of issues leading into Infinity, but now I’m starting to think he’s going to actually pull this off. He’s done a great job tying everything together so far. Now it’s just bringing it all home.

  10. Another great Hickman Infinity tie-in, hands my pick of the week, & now I can’t wait for Infinity #2 next week!

  11. New Avengers continues to be really great. Hickman just has these guys down so well. His Thanos reads pretty well too, so far. But man, this Namor and Black Panther thing is just intense.
