Marvel To Add THE AVENGERS: EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES ADVENTURES and ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURES To All Ages Line

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes #1 Cover

DC Comics has their Young Justice cartoon and comic book and their The All-New Batman: The Brave and the Bold comic which is based on a former cartoon, but Marvel had been lagging behind in their all-ages cartoon tie-ins… until now.

This April, Marvel Comics will add two new on-going series to their all-ages Marvel Adventures line: The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Adventures #1 and Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #1. In a canny bit of synergy the release of these two new books will be timed to coincide with the premiere, on April 1, of the first season of Ultimate Spider-Man and the second season of The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Both cartoons will air on Disney XD on what is being called the “Marvel Universe” hour.

Here’s how Marvel describes the action:

Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #1 Cover

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURES #1

Art by NUNO PLATI
All Ages …$2.99
ON SALE THIS APRIL!

In Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #1, from Man Of Action, Dan Slott, Ty Templeton & Nuno Plati, Peter Parker must balance battling Super Villains and the drama of High School! But fear not True Believer, there is no menace too diabolical and no test too challenging for Spider-Man!

For the debut of these two tie-in books, Marvel got some recognizable names to work on these books, which is nice to see. For years, the Marvel Adventures line has gone pretty much entirely unnoticed by the general comic book community. Even among discussions about the lack of comic books appropriate for younger readers, these books are almost never mentioned. Perhaps now that the two newest books in the line are tied into high profile cartoons, people will take a bit more notice. I know that I’ll be checking them out.

Remember, “all-ages” includes you too.

Comments

  1. AGENT COULSON IS MAKING HIS MARVEL COMICS DEBUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. An Avengers Earth Mightiest’s Heroes COMIC BOOK WRITTEN BY CHRIST YOST!? Hell yeah! 😀

Man, am I the only one who’s eager to finally watch Season 2 of the show!?

  3. Ultimate Spiderman Adventures sounds like it could be great fun. I’m kinda excited for that, but i wonder if i’m bringing my love for Bendis USM run into it cause of “ultimate”. Either way, superhero comics for kids is always an awesome idea!

  4. Slott is a great choice for a kid’s comic. Err… ‘All Ages’, sorry.

  5. The Yost-penned A: EMH mini-series was a great complement to the cartoon.

While I had been getting Marvel Adventures Super Heroes, I’ll gladly trade that title for this.

    Subscription department, sign me up!

  6. This is already my favorite Avengers book.

  7. Dude, his Red Robin run is legendary in my book! 😉

  8. Their subscription department is still showing MASH and MASM, but that’s probably because April solicitations aren’t out yet.

The subscription page often lags behind reality by several months, unfortunately. They still show the old numbering for Uncanny X-Men, even though one can order the new title, by inquiring (or if you’d been a legacy subscriber). They’ll probably assign anyone who was getting the old titles to the new ones if they have issues left on their accounts.

  9. I agree wholeheartedly with you sir. I am really looking forward to these and I expect both books to be a great deal of fun in the classic Marvel manner.

  10. Ultimate spiderman
A show based on a comic is getting it’s own comic.
    Weird

  11. Good. We need more. How else are we going to cultivate the next generation of comic book readers?
