@mikeandzod21

The last issue actually came out last month. Which would make this right on time. I have (not entirely intentionally) avoided Millar's work since The Ultimates, but his vow to see that this one gets out on time along with an interesting premise made me check it out. First issue was promising, this one will be the make or break for me.

@wallythegreenmonster

Just because you don't get someting doesn't mean that someone else is "just pretending" to get it. Granted, you have to have an interest in some outside material to understand some of the references he throws in at times, or at least have read the same books, but it's all there and accesible on several levels. You don't need all of the knowledge of magick and shamanism or astral planes and quantum theory or whatever to enjoy the book. But having those interesersts definitely enhances the understanding of some of the stuff that may appear in a Grant Morrison penned book.
November 15, 2010 5:56 pm It's Grant Morrison and Daivd Finch together on a Batman book; I don't really care if I know what has or will happen because it'll be an awesome story either way. I'm in it for the ride on this one, not the destination.
November 14, 2010 8:08 am As it turns out, as I talk to myself here, this one was NOT at my LCS this week. I don't know why it appears that some people got it and some did not.
November 14, 2010 8:07 am This was awesome and it proves Batman as a concept can be plugged into ANY genre or style of storytelling and work. There were elements from Morrison's "headier" work (Invisibles, Animal Man, ect), classic mythology, various forms of magick and shamanism, and just tons of other references for people with a broad set of interests outside of comics. At the same time it tells a great story on it's own. I think sometimes people get used to being handfed the story and this one requires the reader to be observant and recognize some themes and think about what they're reading.
November 12, 2010 1:08 am Okay, good to know. It didn't show up as availible at my LCS when I checked to see what arrived for me this week. I assume it's there waiting for me then.
November 11, 2010 6:46 am Nope. It's not out this week.
October 23, 2010 4:29 pm Wow, no cover image, only 34 pulls at this point, and one comment. This book has fallen far and fast. It looks like the newest Valiant revival isn't going to be a success.
October 17, 2010 1:40 pm 4/5 I liked it. I don't think a book that uses the language contained in this one is "aimed at the kiddie crowd" but it's not in the same vein as Kick-Ass or Nemesis, either. Yu is a great artist, and I like the bit in the back where Millar vows that they will (uncharacteristically for him) get the book out on schedule.
October 6, 2010 12:39 am I like my comic books in my hands, not on my computer screen. I'll be supporting the LCS and buying a physical copy.
