Name: Brian Hoffman

Bio: I was crafted in Detroit during the waning days of the Nixon Administration and began my long career as a gaming geek around the age of 9, having been first introduced to Dungeons and Dragons at summer camp – whereupon my first character was promptly & ignominiously devoured by a purple worm. Comics and sci-fi were all over the place in there too. Since then I’ve wandered from locale to locale, ending up at various times in East Lansing, MI, Dublin, Ireland, and Westchester, NY. Of late, I've settled down in the Greater Eau Claire Area of WI to enjoy a quiet family life with my daughter, progressive short term memory loss, and a list of new hobbies I am trying out that is longer than me. Besides gaming, I’ve spent most of my copious free time trying to get started as an indie filmmaker, a folk-rock singer-songwriter, or a long-order cook. Given enough time, I’d also love to commit myself to mastering amateur astronomy, kendo, swing dancing, Civil War re-enacting and/or upscale cosplay, travel writing, running, gardening, curling, speaking Gaelic and/or Old Norse, and homebrewing. Also enjoy jelly donuts, sloppy kisses, and dancing with the Squealy Nord. Www.chippewavalleygeek.com

September 2, 2013 2:08 pm Thank you sir. (May I have another?)
September 2, 2013 2:06 pm (PS - Thanks for turning me on to the Fuzzy Typewriter too!)
September 2, 2013 2:05 pm I am very very sad to read this (but get it and understand). I was a "lapsed reader" and have only been aware of and on iFanboy for a year and a half or so (following a tip pointing me to the podcast after the New 52 launch). Nowhere near as long as most out here, and I have mostly lurked.. During the last year though, my wife divorced me and I was laid off to boot, so having iFanboy online to help give me a smile or read an insightful discussion on was so incredibly helpful, it's hard to explain or quantify really. Ironically, I switched to a monthly subscription through DCBS to save money earlier this year, and so I've have fallen behind on the podcasts to keep from spoilerizing myself. Since then, I have leaned a lot harder on the website articles. My 5yo daughter particularly loved going through the sketch-ups with me, and looking at all the cosplay pics too (she is still better at naming who the costume is supposed to be better than me). I will miss all that and the "light week" recommendations of things I would never have caught or noticed myself. I will echo the comments about the loss of the pull list as well. It was a very helpful tool to me to catch anything I had missed in my order, since I likely have to plan a two hour drive at some point over to the Twin Cities to find it. I will try the Comixology thing people have referenced... But I plan to stick my fingers in my ears and scream NONONONONO the whole time. You guys even inspired me to start my own podcast (www.chippewavalleygeek.com). It still sucks, but I am working on it. And I feel like I am channeling you guys every time I say "you're listening to..." Thanks for all the amazing work and creativity guys (and gals). It has been greatly appreciated and will be missed.
March 7, 2013 2:40 pm Thanks for these, I always love going through the Con cosplay posts with my daughter and seeing how many she can name... Usually more than me. (Thanks Netflix!)
February 20, 2013 8:39 pm Thought I'd try some Cap Sold out, and no back issues Damn FLCS
February 20, 2013 8:36 pm Reboot Tom Strong. Y'know... just to f*$% with Alan Moore... er... more.
November 28, 2012 6:53 pm Great to read some positive vibes on this. I didn't find out about this til about a week ago, and I was all set to pick one up today to read w/ my 4 year old daughter (who loves the show), but my local didn't end up getting any. Glad I didn't tell her anything about it beforehand... Will have to look elsewhere I guess...
November 10, 2012 11:37 am Wow... I had the opposite problem. My daughter was set on Cinderella six months ago and I was trying to get her to go the Batgirl route. So we compromised on Merida from Brave. Then she shot me with her bow inside five minutes.
October 25, 2012 9:16 pm Another solid issue, imho, but the back-up was what really made this a home run for me...
