Name: Eric Koford
Bio: Crusher Creel is my real name and I walk around in striped prison pants, boots, no shirt, and a ball-n-chain. It gets a bit chilly sometimes. Actually, the only thing Crusher Creel and I share is the same haircut. I have been a big Marvel fan since my first encounter with Loki. Actually started reading comics in the first grade. My first book was a Hulk book that was in the reading library area of my first grade class. It was way better than "Watch Jack run."Growing up there was a group of us that read comics, but it was really casual. We never had any discussions about characters or creators. It wasn't until college that I started communicating with some really interesting people about comics. That continued through graduate school and into adulthood. Now my kids and I share the love together. I don't push anything on them, but let them develop their own tastes. My daughter likes mostly femine heroes and manga. My son loves Spider-Man. I travel for my career and try to hit the "best" comic store in whatever city I am visiting. I have a list of favorites and am surprised with how many great stores there are. I am also surprised that some can stay in business. I don't collect books, but read titles and give them away. Mostly at Halloween. I collect trades and reread them. I am loyal to a few titles, but am always on the lookout for new interesting books. I prefer "fights in tights" type of books. I grew up on them and continue to love well written and drawn superhero books. I still look at the books from my childhood (in trade), but I can hardly read them. They are written in a more simple style, but compared to some of the books I read today, they just pale. Current Favorites: Invincible, Captain America, Thor, the Avengers, Ultimate FF, Atomic Robo,Godland, Sharkman, Atomics/Mad Man, Goon, Jonah Hex, Lone Ranger, Incredible Hercules, Batman, among others.
I never read this book, but my eleven year old son loves it. Based on that I am endorsing it…

Great Story!! I remember getting my one dollar a week allowance and riding my bike to the local pharmacy to check out the new books each week. I could buy four. Then one week I went to buy the books and the clerk asked for $1.20 for my four books. My first introduction to inflation. Comics were now .30 cents a piece! I was nervous and didn't know what to do. The kindly man in line behind me gave me the extra twenty cents. My parents would not adjust my allowance for inflation, so I was stuck buying 3 books per week.
The first comic store I frequented was called, "Uncle Tom's comics." talk about un-pc. Gotta love the 70's in Oregon
