Name: Troy Hickman

Bio: I write funnybooks. Among them are the Eisner-nominated Common Grounds, the Pilot Season-winning Twilight Guardian (the first issue of which just came out; for the love of Zod, run to the comics shop!), City of Heroes (and I've also written for the game itself), Witchblade, the Incredible Hulk (in ACTOR Comics Presents), Turok, and a bunch of other stuff. I also teach at a college, but that's not nearly as much fun...

March 17, 2011 6:10 pm Hard to say, GiantRaven. On the plus side, the last I heard they were talking about optioning it for a movie, which I think would almost certainly warrant more issues.
March 17, 2011 6:00 pm @KickAss  You know how the Roman emperors used to purposely have a guy standing behind them telling them "you are only a mortal, you are only a mortal"?

I pay this guy to do that for me... ;)
March 17, 2011 4:47 pm Cool! Midnight is the second most famous sock monkey in comics!
March 14, 2011 11:40 pm If they keep it going, I'm going to kill a major character every three months.

Oh, wait...
March 13, 2011 1:39 am Love it! My two favorite things, rolled into one!
February 18, 2011 11:51 am You'll have to wait for the Twilight Guardian Eighty Page All-Dialog Special...
February 17, 2011 2:34 pm Eventually it's going to turn out that Twilight Guardian's whole life was a dream had by Patrick Duffy in the shower, or the daydreams of an autistic child...
February 15, 2011 8:36 pm Hey, optra08, I'm asking you to buy Twilight Guardian. Do you see Ian Churchill anywhere around here? ;)
February 2, 2011 2:03 pm And by the way, I was one of those hundreds of folks who took my self-published comics to conventions and got the small press glare from convention-goers (and in my case, I didn't even have a full-sized book, just photocopied mini-comics), and if I hadn't, I wouldn't have gotten the break that allowed me to do this professionally. It certainly doesn't work for everyone, but trust me, we HAVE heard of some of the folks who did just that.
February 2, 2011 1:52 pm Great piece, Josh, really well-written and candid. And man, did I relate! Even though I've had a number of things on the shelves, and ostensibly have had some measure of success, everything you said there equally applies to me and why I haven't had MORE published. Thanks for a really thoughtful article.
