This is just a great effort by Brian Wood. I would be happy if the arc ended with this issue….

April 22, 2012 3:22 pm I would love to see this happen. But the community isn't quiet ready. Was Mr. Terrific bad, absolutely. Could Static Shock have been better, without question. Is this the reason for the books getting shuttered. Probably not. Many black comic readers that I know subscribed to these books religiously even though our discussions wished for better more creative story telling with established villains (i.e. T'Challa v Fisk, Shuri v Doom). In these tough times you don't trim the well established or well written characters; you cut the ones you don't identify with. How many bat books are there,9 (without counting Justice League titles)? I would argue only 2 of which are really good. The mainstream isn't ready to sustain a black ongoing superhero; and don't argue for Cyborg. Even I don't get his current affiliation with the JLA. I'm very interested to see how long Mile Morales survives. I hope for a good long time. Want a measured interest in the Future of Black Lighting. 7 comments and counting.
December 8, 2011 1:20 am Hurricane Katrina. That storm took every book I collected since childhood. A closet full of long boxes, a room full of Marvel promotional posters, ninja turtle action figures, and old PC equipment. A second floor childhood room, a capsule of late 80's & 90's geek culture reduced to a roofless, waterlogged, black mold, nature reclaimed habitat. I don't have the same sentimental connection to comics. I still love them but have no desire to cling to the monthly physical form because they can be taken away in instance. Older and wiser; art and curated issues are insured - talk to your insurance agent about riders for appraised art (prints and originals) and comics (rare, artist commissions and proofs). Have it updated annually. Prints, vinyl toys, Mike Mignols signed Hellboy statue you got a C2E2 or the 25-cents #50 Fantastic Four you found at a yard sale, while it would be painful if lost in a disaster at least you can restart your collection with a little coin in your pocket. Once Burned.
July 20, 2011 2:56 pm Okay so this is a pass about as exciting as emo Sups in Superman Returns.  I'll wait for the Netflix instant stream 28-days after the DVD.
July 6, 2011 1:51 pm I think Ellis has some great points but for digital comics to work they are going to need a service (re:pulllist) comparable to the comic shop. Six months out I will still be using day-in-date digital comics only if there is a subscription model. Marvel digital offerings are pathetic and their pricing structure is driving me only to the essentials despite incomplete story archs, for example I like Dark Wolverine but I have to pickup X-23 to get a complete story which only leads to me dropping Dark Wolverine.

Isn't Nightrunner black. Making him the first black/of-African-decent character to don the cowl. And based on the cover art that showed Batwing being attacked by the AH-64 Apache he must be Egyptian since the only other primary user of this helicopter is the US and Israel. I kid. If this is DCs attempt to get a more diverse crowd Fail! from the black guy in the room. You want a more diverse audience, flesh out John Stewart, incorporate adult Static into Justice League books, how about give "OMG-what-planet-in-the-multiverse" Final Crisis Black Superman an ongoing.

February 25, 2011 10:10 pm This is going to be beautiful. I wish it had a continuous story feel like the Batman Gothom Knight.

February 22, 2011 9:35 pm Rooted Nook color + graphic.ly + ComiXology = Win!
September 21, 2010 6:01 pm I wonder what percentage are artist and writers and what percent is staff. The news is sad, best of luck to all those on the receiving end of a pink slip.
February 15, 2010 6:26 pm What! no Ninja Batman? Pirate Batman is a fav.
