August 21, 2013 6:23 pm Aaaand I was right :-). About the box being a gateway, at least. I'm sure we will learn next issue that its a gateway to an "earth 3" like world where everyone is evil. This is where our new leader of the secret society, Alfred "outsider" Pennyworth comes from. Wouldn't be surprised if he traps the heroes in that world and that's basically what Forever Evil is all about.

August 14, 2013 11:29 pm I'm trying really hard to compare it Infinity Gauntlet but this issue was over-all a bit of a miss for me. I am interested enough to continue on to issue two, but not enough to get the tie-ins. The Digital version had a Skrull backup that was really cool and featured a particularly favorite Marvel character of mine.

August 14, 2013 10:38 pm I still think its clearly Outsider Alfred from some alternate universe or something and "the box" (that looks more like a gold skull to me, but whatever) is likely some gateway. Was the third eye on the final page supposed to be evocative of OMAC? Have we seen the story where Lex Luthor receives those weird scars in his head? I'm not remembering that While I don't like the Dr. Psycho redesign, I like the newer kind of motivation of being drivin insane unable to keep from hearing everyone's bad thoughts. But how long until we start going back to some more traditional character designs, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

August 14, 2013 10:07 pm Very good issue, has definitely renewed my interest in Zero Year. I was so glad the bell was retained, as was the bat on the bust and the famous line to his father. It was important to me that bit carry over from Year One. Also, great back up! Really enjoyed that.
