September 24, 2012 12:47 pm I share your disappointment glcfarmboy. Once i'd gotten over the nerdgasm of seeing it on the big screen, the whole thing came across as incredibly one-note. Even got a tad dull in the middle and then just sort of ended. What's great about the great Dredd stuff is getting to know the poor denizens of Meg1 and watching them trying to cook up schemes and not get caught by Dredd. For me he's best as the unstoppable force type motif, with the true characterisation going to the crooks etc. They ought to have played it like that, a big heist movie, with added Dredd kicking their butts - which is still somehow satisfying.
September 17, 2012 11:02 am Wait a minute.... "he's not a fascist, he merely works for a brutal police force in a dystopian city, dogmatically upholding the law and dispensing 'justice' by killing people"... hmmm. he's an antihero, i'll give him that. Perhaps he's making the best of a bad situation. But he is at least a tiny bit fascist... Isn't that the point, it's supposed to be satirical, no?
November 17, 2011 1:39 pm Kirby's entire fourth world saga is the best starting point for comics fullstop in my opinion!
November 4, 2011 11:41 am Throw comics out? At least take 'em to a charity shop. America has charity shops, right?
November 2, 2011 6:24 pm punk is very important to me. Was always a bit of an shy, awkward, outsider type of kid and punk some how made me feel more confident about myself.
November 2, 2011 6:18 pm Do you have the Criterion Collection release Island of Lost Souls? I've been desperate to see that movie for ages and heard that's a good one, but the dvd hasn't come out in UK yet.
November 2, 2011 6:15 pm Existential philosophy, and early influences like Nietzsche and Kierkegaard. Also anything and everything to do with Sherlock Holmes. Apart from the guy ritchie film.
October 31, 2011 5:06 pm Is anyone else still getting the grey box with an X in, rather than the player? What am I doing wrong?
October 28, 2011 1:46 pm I think 'is' is correct in this case. 'The Defenders' is the name of a team. Team is singular. Adams channeling some inner Kirby here.
October 1, 2011 2:29 pm Not a Snyder fan, then...
