A pretty good issue using Joes that haven’t been seen in awhile. The art is acceptable but could user tighter…

February 7, 2013 9:54 pm Is it too much to ask for some hand lettering. On the first page of this comic the date is shown as 1632 and is supposed to be in old Japan. It's the most generic modern font in a cheaply made Photoshopped black box. They couldn't even spend the time to use a pseudo Asian font. So lazy. DC is the worst at this. If there are words that are part of the art just do it by hand.
February 2, 2013 12:13 am It's interesting because it's a darker tone. There was actual blood in the comic and Skeletor seems somewhat menacing. The reveal that everyone knows who He-Man and Skeletor really are was a nice change. I'm not a fan of the art or the coloring. Everything is too clean and bright. Put some blood scratches in and some ripped clothing.
January 28, 2013 7:21 pm I strongly disagree. When I read comics as a kid I also enjoyed finding more about new characters or searching for obscure characters appearances in Marvel Team up or the like. If they did a roll call of everyone it would have been boring wasted pages. If you don't find out this issue you will eventually find out who they are. Not knowing these characters names or history did nothing to hinder the story. The fact I knew who Captain Universe was when I first saw him was a detriment because he has always been lame. When I read something for the first time I don't expect to know everything. This complaint has no legs. Based on this logic Game of Thrones should be an utter failure as even characters you see weekly you don't who they all are.
January 10, 2013 12:03 am With the original Marvel Star Wars comics being some of the first I ever read and the first I collected this was a pretty good issue. To me the art had Carmine Infantino feel and since he did many of the Marvel Star Wars comics that drew me in right away. I really liked the Dart Vader. The story was good in the fact that blowing on (giant) Battle Station wouldn't really stop an Empire that was in control of the galaxy. I want to read more so I would say this is a success for however short lived it will be. On the debate of the old/new movies. As a kid I used have dreams of new Star Wars movies. I don't think anything George Lucas would have done would really live up to those expectations. That being said those movies are a let down. If they started with Episode III it might not have been that bad. Darth Vader as a whiny 10 year old was just terrible and really turned me off of Star Wars for years.
January 8, 2013 1:26 am When I was reading it and I was thinking who is he going to see in the prison and then it hit me and it was who I was thinking it should be. It was executed perfectly.
November 27, 2012 8:22 pm This was poorly edited but at the time they probably didn't put much thought into it. They introduce Marvel with the Spiderman/ Power Pack child Molester issue. That is what they chose? I would of thought Marvel would give them something better to promote. That came out at the time so maybe. Then when they mention licensed characters that were successful and they show the last issue of Star Wars that says "last issue" on it along with Care Bears that I doubt had more than 10 issues. I'm not sure the specifics on the Jack Kirby issue and I know creators got a raw deal when it came to rights back then but they were paid for their work and that is they way it was back then. They signed a work for hire agreement. At some point a contract is a contract and this revisionist history on anyone that may have signed an unfair deal is ridiculous.

September 10, 2012 9:56 pm I was really looking forward to it and I thought it stunk. The best part was seeing the legion of doom together.
August 6, 2012 6:10 pm The Marvel Star Wars adaption had a bunch of the scenes that were cut out of the movie like the scene with Jabba and when Luke saw Biggs. I'm pretty sure the Marvel Movie adaptions came out before the movies as well. They had that magazine series that was just movie adaptions and that ran for 50 issues or so. Now you have DVD special editions. Besides the Star Wars one I was never that interested in them. Adaptions were a definitely a spinner rack buy by moms back in the day.
July 28, 2012 1:46 am These apes comics are really great. The regular series is kind of hybrid of the original series and the marky mark movie with excellent art and story. The other series is totally old school and the art is real throwback style that suits it. I always liked the old movies but was never a superfan but I really look forward to these comics. They are high quality comics and not your typical independent let down. Both are top notch.
