September 6, 2011 4:44 pm No decisions are based on sales. And sales are good for The Avengers. But a smart editor sees the writing on the wall. Coffee talk Avengers is well past the point of empty. Bendis needs to write some action some crazy threat only the avengers can handle The kind of stuff they were founded to do. I like a good character moment- I like some of the soap opera of course. But I personally don't truly care who's dating who- more than I want to see some Avengering. And the talking head interview stuff - Dayenu already! Here's my personal formula. 50% Action 30% SciFi craziness 20% Relationship mishigas
September 6, 2011 2:37 pm I like Bendis as a writer a lot. I think there is still a lot of talent left in the tank. But I have grown to hate his Avengers- outside of Siege I can't even get through an issue anymore- this seems like more of the same. It's not hating to say- that maybe this group of characters is just something he doesn't do well.
September 6, 2011 1:45 pm I agree the Silver Surfer can get a bit whiny- for one I think they need to decide if the "power cosmic" is reality altering/molecule reshaping power- or just some suped up laser beams. But as for the most emo? No way- Thor the Mighty Avenger was by Far the most emo character ever written- there are comics being published at kinkos by straight edged kids right now - that aren't as emo as TTMA. Two words: Double Rainbow.
September 5, 2011 10:23 am Maybe Squarespace should have done the redesign.
September 5, 2011 8:57 am With all due respect Ron there's a lot more to cover on the digital distro than- "they are available digitally" With all the commentary on the industry and how is works from your colleagues in their usual style. Many people have posted comments asking for ifanboys in depth take on the the business and cultural ramifications of someone finally going for the digital spinner rack. Will it give DC an edge in sales- will it change the format of storytelling will super compressed stories take a back seat will the two page spread be obsolete? Will a lower digital price point eventually be set? And on and on the creative team changes and character stuff is super interesting the Game changer is the digital business move and out side of JIm's recent article I haven't seen a lot of theories floated in discussion by the main iFanboy crew. I think that is why people keep asking you for it. Yes anything is just a theory at this point - but iFanboy postulates theories all the time why should this be any different unless there is a conflict with being owned by Graphic.ly
September 2, 2011 2:27 pm I am glad you are enjoying it, b/c the tone of these articles is kind of rubbing me the wrong way. Plus didn't we just read this same article last week? I know there is the inclusion of the indie perspective here but the message sounds exactly the same. Which I think is ironic for someone saying try something new. Probably just me. Love the new site.

September 2, 2011 8:25 am Ahh sweet and salty- sticky poutine- Can't get enough. I'm a poutine hound.
September 1, 2011 10:06 am Superman never was a "street level character" If this is going to Morrison's version of the Blurr, I for one am going to pass. I also think if any other writer were proposing this critics would be rolling their eyes. If that is how he is going to be portrayed here- crime better be at an absolute zero. B/c how wouldn't it be? JLA Dark on the other hand sounds like a chance for these characters to really shine in a way they haven't in a long time- if ever.
