The most important question is was this issue good? The simple answer is No!

Were the characters good? The ones carried from new X-men yes (although they were not as good as they were in new x-men), the new additions, not so much no. I mean who needs another wolf like character, especially one that tries to rip off Wolverine with ‘bub’. What annoys me is that new x-men was a neat little book and was really starting to build up a good cast of characters with their own storylines and dramas driven by one another. What I feel marvel has done with young x-men is simply take new x-men and said ‘you know what, this isn’t selling, so lets make a book that’s going to sell even less’ and it will I am sure. Don’t get me wrong, Guggenheim is a good writer, his run on Flash with Bart Allen was amazing (and didn’t DC take that and ruin it with the relaunch) but young x-men is not a match to it predecessor. The art was poor. It is not as bad as other books but new x-men had Skottie Young who was great and suited this. Was Cyclops needed, not in new x-men so much so why make him a professor x character in this book? I understand why, because they needed someone to form the group and drive the story but I am so disappointed because this book could have been so much better. I am glad to see Rockslide, Blindfold and Dust but I miss the other new x-men so much that I’m not sure this book had a chance to start with. I may pick up the next issue to see where it goes but overall it could have been a lot better.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 2 - Average
