Goddammit.

Seriously Chris, how the hell do you get off in saying this
is a continuation of your original run. I know that you worked with
George Lucas on the Willow novelization, but did you have to take his
attitude toward legacy as well?

It isn’t so much that it’s bad, and boy
is it bad. It’s that Claremont is basically saying, hey I know I suck
now, but I’m going to actively try to do what I was doing when I was
popular and you’ll like it now because you like it then.

 But this is
not a continuation. There is no way that this would have ever been the
status quo any writer in their right mind would have gone for back
then. This is fan fic wankery and everyone knows it. I knew it when I
heard it announced. I knew it when I saw the previews. I knew it when I
read it and I definitely know it now.

This book had people describing their powers, being emo about the one flaw that Claremont gave them so they have any characterization. It had whiny pissy love triangles. It had contrived internal drama. Basically, it had all the stuff the mutant titles had in the 90s that make them a joke now.

 This book is wasting Tom
Grummet’s talents, but at least it’s keeping Claremont away from other
writers. So awful

Story: 1 - Poor

The way Marvel’s marketed this book is misleading. To really get what Claremont wanted to do, you’d have to let him take back over at about Uncanny #278 or so.
