I have been a Kathryn Immonen fan ever since her Hellcat story in the short lived re-boot of Marvel Comics Presents. She injected some life into a character who had been living in the backseat with Hellcat and it looks like she may be able to do the same for Jubilee. This comic isn’t just a great story with Jubilee but it’s one of the best X-Men comics I’ve read since Whedon on Astonishing. Immonen crafts a story about Vampirism as a analog of those late teen years when you know high school is over and there’s another world waiting for you. It’s the story of a girl who doesn’t know where she belongs. Not the most original concept but it’s a story told very well nonetheless. This is an issue that let’s the characters drive the story instead of great world-shattering events and those are the kind of X-Men stories I likes. If Phil Noto and Kathryn Immonen were given an X book It’d definitely be on my pull list.

  1. I liked this issue a lot too. It totally felt Whedon-esque!
