Pellet Reviews

Batman: A nice interaction between Alfred and Bruce. This strip is starting to remind me of the animated series in a lot of ways. However, Risso’s art is becoming a problem. His models for Alfred are terrible.

Kamandi: There’s a Gorilla with a rocket launcher on him! What’s not to love about this?

Superman: Bermejo’s art is the main reason to keep this reading this strip. I still don’t know where this story is going, if it’s just Kal still being sad of being an outsider…I’m out.

Deadman: Great action in this, and a lot of blood for a ‘sunday’ strip.

Wonder Woman: Still unreadable, will most likely skip it from now on and stop trying.

Green Lantern: This reminds me a lot of ‘The Incredibles’ for some reason. The guy Hal is remembering reminds me of a government offical from the film. Improved from last issue but still kinda went down in quality quick.

Metamorpho: So….there’s a French restaurant in a Mayan temple? Oookaaay. What is Neil Gaiman smoking?

Teen Titans: This strip has won me over, it has improved a hundred fold in almost every way. Sure the art is different, but that’s why I like it. Cause it’s different.

Strange Adventure: I wish I could see Adam Strange again.

Supergirl: Look at the kitty! Look at it!!! I’m looking forward to the strip where Supergirl is waiting at the Vet. Reading a Cosmo or Newsweek…

Metal Men: It might be the longest bank heist in history but I am still enjoying Didio’s 2nd attempt at writing comics. His first being a X-Mas special but I haven’t read that yet…

Hawkman: Art is still amazing in this and if Baker could do a Hawkman ongoing then I am on board for it.

Sgt. Rock: This is moving really slow, it’s like Tarentino filming a Nazi torture scene. By the way, anyone else looking forward to Inglorious Basterds?

The Flash: If only Tom Katers could write a Flash comic, then I would die and be in heaven. This is everything a Flash fan will love when reading this.

Demon & The Cat: That yellow bastard is still talking to himself and I still have no idea where this is going. Don’t get me wrong it’s still written well, but what is going on?

We’re almost at the halfway point with this new and exciting format. After reading three straight issues, I am still loving this. Some stories have gone down in quality a bit (like Batman and Green Lantern) but others have taken their place (like Teen Titans or Superman). It’s probably going to be like this all the time, some stories will be great one week and another it will quiet down. As long as I can still smell the paper, I’m still 100% on board with this.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. Yeah, I’m definitely on board for the new Tarantino!

  2. I agree on the Batman review.  The art on this one is really bothering me this week, especially the way Alfred and some of the rogues are drawn. The story is moving at a snail’s pace, too. I guess you can say that about a lot of these though, but I’m noticing it most in Batman.
