As crossovers go, WoK is great. The tie-in issues are wholly relevant to the main miniseries, yet they advance the stories of each of their home issues cleverly. And one can never say that nothing of consequence happens in WoK – the last page of this issue is a stunner.

However, I feel that this issue is perhaps not as good as it could have been. I suspect that Paul Pelletier, whom I really enjoy, had an off week (on the other hand, the inking and coloring may have been the let-down here). Somehow, the book felt fragmented. Furthermore, Talon, who is a great new character looked much better in the Ascension books than he did in this issue.

Still, this is a must have issue of a must have series that should be the standard bearer for Marvel crossovers (cosmic or otherwise) for years.

  1. Nice review!  I agree that this wasn’t quite what I hoped it would be.  My theory is that the decision to focus on Vulcan, Gladiator, and Lilandra in this issue lead to its problems.  The Starjammers get a little face time, but I think the only Inhuman we see is Crystal.  I’m ready for Nova to finally get involved, and I’m always happy to see the Guardians and the Inhumans.

PS: I’m hoping they go through with what seems to have happened on the final page.  If that’s permanent, it will be VERY big!
