Here's the thing that always gets me about this type of "no one is safe" story: if these heroes are so easy to kill in this miniseries, how did they manage to stay alive so long before this? Why didn't Sabertooth just bite Angel's wings off the very first time they faced off? Maybe I'm just being nitpicky. I realize the intent of this series is to tear everything down, but there has to be a classier way to do that, don't you think? Alas, I guess expecting classy from Jeph Loeb at this point in his career is like expecting Eddie Murphy to be funny and relevant again. The fact is, Ultimatum is basically torture porn set in the Ultimate Universe. The writing is a step above fan fiction, and while I like Finch's art, it is utterly wasted here. What a putrid mess!
