As far as I'm concerned, Ultimate Spider-man ended with the Chris Samnee issue from a few months ago.
Going in, I gave this storyline the benefit of the doubt. It's called "Death of Spider-man", so I figured there was no way they were actually going to kill of Peter. The title MUST be a metaphor for some other big change in Spidey's life. Well, they did kill him, in perhaps the most cliche' way possible. All of his biggest villains escape from prison together and take him on. This is drug out for 5 issues, until he finally dies.
And, at one point, the Punisher was trying to shoot Captain America. I didn't read the tie-ins from other series, so maybe this made sense, but to me it was ridiculous.
I love Bendis, and I love Ultimate Spider-man, but this storyline was worse than Ultimatum to me.
The artwork was beautiful, and Bagley is a true pro.

I agree. I enjoyed this story, and I loved Bagley’s art, so I don’t feel ripped off or anything, but this was dragged out (especially all for an ending that doesn’t make it clear there’s even a death).
Along with this, my week included Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates 5 and the first two issues of Batman Gates of Gotham. I know it’s wrong to make those four comics representative of each publisher’s entire line, but I’ve definitely been feeling like DC is giving me a LOT more bang for buck in the past 3-4 months (different price points aside).
