Okay, so we're three issues in and I'm starting to get that feeling
that TRINITY is a bit of a bust. This weekly "event" is supposed to be
something special, right? Unfortunately, up to this point it's
anything but, as the A story offered up here amounts to a
by-the-numbers battle sequence between the Justice League and an almost
laughable baddie in the form of giant human-hating beast Konvict. Just
when things are looking bad for the JLA, the title trio appears.
Superman gives Konvict a few licks, but then gets punched hard. Really
hard. That's really about it. Nothing exactly special about that. I
know these weekly deals often take a while to get going, so it may be
too early to tell, but as it stands, it seems likely that readers will
be at least annoyed by a Superman-Wonder Woman-Batman book that has
them only a total of three pages. As for the second story presented in
these pages, it involves a tarot-card-reading gal in the barrio who
somehow has a connection to something supernatural. How it will all
tie in to the bigger story remains to be seen, but for the most part,
this section of the book was pretty forgettable and completely
pedestrian. This book may somehow redeem itself in future issues, but
as it stands, the third time is anything but the charm here.
