I’m a huge Lemire fan, so I might be a little bias: this was an awesome comic and an even better first issue. Especially because it felt like reading the first two issues.

The split-story about an exciting expedition into the unknown of an old inca temple on the one side, and a scientific research group at the brink of extinction on the other side, were not only interesting but worked wonderful in contrast to each other.

At the same time, although we don’t know much about the main characters yet, the glimpse into their respective gloomy back stories was intriguing and made it seem as if there is already a similarity or connection between the two.

Overall this felt like a book about oppositions and symmetries, wrapped in two really entertaining pulp fiction sci-fi/adventure stories.

The art not only highlighted the dichotomy of the story but also created the perfect mood of mystery and the unknown with its somewhat sketchiness and a feeling of melancholy with the great watercolors.

Definitely my pick of the week.

(I apologize for spelling mistakes and stuff. I’m not a native speaker)

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
