Oh, Luna Brothers, I forgive you for the petering out of Girls.  I still look fondly back on our Ultra days, and let out contented sigh after contented sigh.

That said, Sword is definitely the reason why I love you.  From issue #1, I’ve been completely hooked on this story, and each issue has been better and more engaging than the last.  Until this one.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dislike this issue.  In fact, I really enjoyed it, but this is clearly the transition to a new arc.  And I’m ok with that.  Having come from killing off a major villain a couple of issues ago, you have to give the readers some breathing room (and, said breathing room involves a massive gunfight, the losing of the sword, and some killer prep work for the next issue).

The only part of this issue that I didn’t enjoy?  The splash ad on the last page.  A massive Image hero crossover story.  I’m embarrassed by how suckered in it by it I’m going to be. I’ll probably read every title involved (except for Savage Dragon, because it’s not my cup of green tea).

All in all, this issue is a fiver.  Thanks, Luna Brothers, I’ll be waiting for you when you get home from work tonight.  And, yes, I’ll be wearing those PJs you like so much.

  1. Dont want to be an annoying nit-picker but no major villain died in the last issue. They just found Knossos

  2. Wow, you’re right,   I missed issue #13 somehow.  This boggles my mind.  And we don’t have a copy of it in the store.  Huh.

  3. GIRLS was still brilliant. This is great too. But in a very differnt way.

  4. @Drcolossus: I loved most of girls, but it tripped up for me a bit at the end, which is not to say it still wasn’t a fantastic comic.  And you’re right, this is a very very differentky good story.
