It’s been a while since I have been genuinely surprised in a comic. I can’t even remember the last time it has happened, hence why I am bringing it up now. The end of this particular issue of Sweet Tooth was surprising because it ties into the present story so well I was really impressed by it.

This issue was just as impressive as it was last time. Lemire does a great job with the old timey talk in this and he definitely did his research on the mythological elements as well. What ties it all together is the art by Matt Kindt, whose style is consistent with Lemire’s but he adds his own touch to it as well. You can definitely get more emotion with each character and his crayon-like coloring adds more to the pages as well.

This is just another solid issue in what I still think is Jeff Lemire’s best work to date. Considering how this issue ends, I’m intrigued to see how Lemire is going to tie this even further with the final issue of the arc.
