Sweet Tooth is a series that has really interested me over the last two months. There was so much initial hype, which it seemed to live up to, and then we all waited to see if it could really be as great as it promised.
With issue number two, I am impressed, but also a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I will definitly continue reading, but I just wanted a little more out of this. The first issue set up a really intriguing and different kind of premise, which I liked. I was hoping that in this, the premise would either be fleshed out quite a bit with exactly what was going on, or I would have been okay still having all the questions I had from #1. For example, the way Walking Dead is about explaining away things.
This didnt really give me either of those things. The questions that it did answer, I didnt seem to like the answer to, and I was just a little more frustrated with the questions that it didn’t. I just think it should have stayed on one side of the line or the other in terms of revealing things, rather than kind of jump back and forth.
I still like the characters, especially Mr. Jeppard, who seems to be quite interesting. All of the character drama is great in this series, I just dont like the overall plot a whole lot. Also, the art was amazing in this issue. Personally, I haven’t seen that much by Lemire, but this issue blew away number one. It was absolutly fantastic.
Overall, I have high hopes to where this can go, and I hope that it can bring me back into the overall story as well. While not the best book out there, it’s definitly worth a shot.

Totally agree about revealing too much info. I could have done without learning about the rest of the half-animal kids and their immunity. Like I said on the Twitter, he probably could have spaced this issue out between two issues if he really wanted to.
I had a lesser fun time with this, but I’m still willing to give this a chance. Good review.
I could have done without the half animal immunity stuff too. I just thought that was kind of weird and way out there. I’m still giving it a chance too, though.
Good review. I agree with you and drakedangerz about the reveal. It just wasn’t necessary info at this point, and didn’t really add anything to the story so far.
