Few stories in comics are as well known as the origins of Superman. And while there have been few “secrets” revealed in this new retelling, Geoff Johns and Gary Frank have managed to share an engaging story so far, particularly in this second issue featuring the Legion. Here we see a very uncomfortable pubescent pre-Super Clark, one who has found that he has powers but has more questions than answers in his life. So in this second part, Clark begins to put his powers to use and begins finding some confidence in his status as an outsider.

And while the story is good, it is again the art from Frank that makes this story so beautiful. I loved his work in Action Comics, and continues his work in this book. My favorite moments in the book were the ones with the young Lex Luthor. Frank gives the young Luthor some incredible smirks, while his eyes betray the malevolence that we know will bubble over after he moves to Metropolis. I cannot wait to see that in part 3.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
