I only picked this comic up because I saw it listed as this week’s Don’t Miss. The description didn’t sound like something I’d enjoy. I don’t play World Of Warcraft. In order for me to get invested in a fantasy comic, there has to be something in it that blows me away. A plot point. Dialog. Character interaction.
I love superhero comics, so they don’t have to work as hard to win me over.
Still, this is an Image book, and I’ve liked most of their recent titles. This one, however, I’m not going to continue to read. The dialog is a little cheesy, but it might be acceptably cheesy if you’re into orc-baiting.
The art isn’t really my style either, but it’s well done. Stevens and Huang have a much better grasp on how lighting and shadows work then most of the artists working for Marvel and DC right now.
Art: 4 - Very Good
Thanks for the review. Now I won’t feel as bad when I can’t find a copy. I still plan to try it, but the fantasy aspect doesn’t really get my enthusiasm up. The buddy cop aspect is the only part that might keep my interest. The art in the preview pages is growing on me.
