Saga #8: Still Awesome.

There have been some pretty dynamic action and fight scenes in this series, but what makes it great is the fact that its focus is always on character exploration and story. Issue 8 demonstrates this beautifully.

This issue, we learn a little more about the pasts of our primary characters, we learn a little more about what motivates them, and we are introduced to a new element that will likely further complicate their already complicated lives. All of this is done with a pacing that makes the 21 pages seem to fly by; before you know it, you are once again at the end of the book, hungry for the next issue.

Fiona Staples’ incredible art doesn’t hurt either.

Speaking of which; this issue has a little bonus in the letters page- a glimpse at the process Fiona Staples uses to create the stunning artwork of the series. It’s an interesting look at how this book is put together, and it explains why I’ve had so much trouble tracking down original Fiona Staples Saga art on the secondary market.

Another great issue in a great series about aliens that remains one of the most Human comics being released today.
