Drips and drabs of plot details being revealed slowly builds suspense, but having many strands wisping in the wind creates uncertainty in the reader. I am enjoying the way Resurrection Man is unfolding a great deal, but I’m not sure I trust the creative team yet. The story is brimming with potential after two issues, but if the payoffs don’t come, the uncertainty will bloom into frustration.

The art in this book is quite attractive, although I’m finding the skin and empty sexuality of the antagonists unnecessary and repellant. I know sexploitation is a trope in horror comics, but it cheapens the book. I hope it is helping some stay interested in this book, perhaps then it is a reasonable trade off.

The stylistic significant shifts in style between realism, expressionism and pop comic is as big a part of the storytelling as the actions the art portrays. As the series continues, I hope my guesses about the meaning of the shifts prove to be correct.

Resurrection Man is a series that is ambitious and filled with potential. I pray that it lives into that potential, because it could be a series that we talk about for years.
