RESURRECTION MAN #2 keeps its forward momentum – mostly – but spends a lot of its time with the Body Doubles, which is probably a bit to its detriment. Not that these characters aren’t entertaining in their way, and could be very interesting over time. Just that I feel like the star of the book is the eponymous Mitch Shelley, and not just because he’s, well, eponymous.

This issue sees Mitch trying to hunt down more bits of his past, and even finding a few, though maybe they aren’t so compelling as they could be. There’s not a lot of focus on his abilities – either the fact that he has a tendency to resurrect or the powers he has since the end of last issue as a result – and that almost seems a little early. This isn’t a book about powers, but considering the esoteric mechanics of them it seems to me that maybe they should still get showcased a little. I was a little worried going into this series that the resurrection-with-new-powers gimmick would get old quick…now I’m a little concerned it’ll be underplayed. And when your main character is a stereotypical amnesiac, there’s not a lot of other places you can go.

RESURRECTION MAN still feels like it has promise, but I have to say, it seems a bit less promising than it did last month.
