His rage rendered impotent by the denial of revenge, Atrocitus must find new purpose. Featuring fan favorite, Dex-Star, this issue sets up the beginning of The Red Lantern Corps. The story has some bloody good action, gives Atrocitus a fuller backstory, and shows why the universe is calling out for vengence.
I found the seemingly disconnected story of a grandfather murdered on Earth intriguing. Will future issues feature similar stories? Stories from across the universe of sane and rational people blinded by rage, unable to answer the question we all ask when confronted with random acts of violence, Why?
These injustices cry out from across the universe and Atrocitus and his Red Lanterns are here to help…. or at least rip the scalps off the perpetrators.
The art is flush. Benes does a great job with all the characters and backgrouds.
I wish the other Lanterns weren’t all mindless brutes and I feel that has to change eventually. But I’m okay with the book focusing on Atrocitus right now. He is their leader after all.

  1. I very much agree with everything you said. Just had one thing to add. I feel like the idea of showing vengence side stories to add atmosphere to the Red Lantern mission or maybe the development of a human red lantern. Yes, i know that could very well be lame but don’t rule it out.
