I’m starting to lose faith in this series. I dont know why, but it’s just not as fun or interesting as it used to be.

Ever since Rider has lost his Nova powers, it’s just been a slow paced series. Here we have an issue where it’s suppose to be a huge battle. Something AnL are great at; but instead it’s more talking heads then battle. Now that might sound like a nitpick; I mean AnL did write some good stuff in here. Plus there is some fighting in this issue. But it just wasnt fun to read! Besides the fights werent that great to begin with; it just felt like we we’re seeing glimpses of something we need to see in ‘War of Kings’. It’s like one of those War stories you see where there is a battle going on, but all the filmmaker is showing is the dynamics between the soliders. Now that isnt a bad thing, but for this comic there should be more fighting going on then talking heads.

Andrea DiVito, who did issue #22 a while back, now seems to be the new artist for this series. While he is no Alves, he does do a great job in this issue. His characters are on model, which is good since it’s mostly talking heads in this issue. Plus the fight scenes we do see in here are nicely laid out. Overall though I want Alves to come back. DiVito is just a poor mans subsitute to Alves. The title might look good; but it just doesnt feel the same.

I dont want to think of dropping this series. I mean there really isnt anything wrong with it if I think about it. It’s better then a lot of Marvel titles that are out today. But it’s just not as fun and exciting as it used to be. I’ll probably stick with this series threwout the WoK tie-in’s. Cause if anything the endings for this series still make me want to see where the story is going. Maybe this storyline will bring Worldmind back to Rider and we’re back to the status quo? I hope.

  1. Thanks for the review!  I agree that Nova’s been a little slow lately (almost half a year now), but I have great faith that within the next few issues, this will once again rival Guardians of the Galaxy.  Hang in there!

     PS: Andrea’s an Italian dude…Not a girl…

  2. @itiscritical: Oh….well….he should have a dude’s name then ^^;
