MUPPET SHOW #1 (OF 4)

I really wished I liked the art on this book.  The script of this comic was perfect Muppetism.  The pacing, the puns, the plot line buried behind the behind-the-scenes frenetecism.  The writing was like your favorite Muppet Show episode.  Not one of the ones that was brought down by Mrs. Brady trying to prove she was a real actress, or the one with the dancer who you wouldn’t have recognized even if you were a cultured adult in 1979, and not a drooling toddler, like I was (I still drool a lot, but hardly ever toddle).  This was the cast of Star Wars episode.  Or, the one with the stand-up comedian whose name I’ve never learned, because I’ve only ever seen him on the Muppet Show Season One DVDs that I watch religiously (though, more Unitarian Universalist than Orthodox Jew).

I know the comic is aimed for children, so they feel they can skimp on art, but damn this was such a fun comic to read that I wanted the characters to look like the characters from the show, and not the weirdly alien-like cartoons that they are in this book.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 1 - Poor

  1. I saw the preview for this and yeah….some of the characters are a bit off model.

This is the comic where the grown up in me and the kid in me are going to duke it out.

  2. My money is on adult you.  My adult me beat the crap out of my kid me when I got back into comics.  It’s ok, though.  It bought him ice cream afterward, in exchange for not telling my mommy me.

  3. ….I like ice cream…

  4. Wait…are we dating now?  I’m so confused.
