I enjoyed the first scene in this issue. It's more of the same thing we've come to expect from these Avengers Secret Invasion tie ins. Scenes from past issues now shown in a new light as we find out that Elektra (the Skrull) hired Electro to instigate the break out from way back in New Avengers #1. I loved that scene because I specifically remember reading that first New Avengers story arc for the second time after several arcs were out and thinking "hey, shouldn't we have found out who these mysterious people hiring Electro are by now?" Of course, on the first read, I just assumed it would be revealed within a few issues.
The problem is that that was the only scene I really liked in the whole issue. It starts the story and everything else seems unnecessary. Tying Secret Invasion in with a story from four or five years ago is impressive, but in this case, it takes about four pages. The rest of the issue shows how the Skrulls killed Elektra and then took her back into a leading role in the Hand. There are no turns or anything unexpected in this series of events, though. If you read the last two sentences of this review… that's all that happened in the book, exactly how you would expect. The art was good, but the first scene could easily have been tacked on to another bloated issue and we all would have been better off.
Also, why the hell is this in Mighty Avengers? This is tying into stories from New Avengers and that might be a nitpick, but putting this in Mighty just adds to the feeling that I already have that they're just trying to make up for lost issues while they were waiting on Cho's pencils.

Story: 2 - Average

I have to agree. While Bendis deserves thanks for explaining (in excruciating detail) how all of the Skrull double agents have come to take their positions prior to the large-scale invasion, this device is really becoming tiresome. My guess is that it will work better when all of the issues are compiled into a trade (or trades). In the meantime, yawn.
