Hearing Power Girl getting her own title soon is a bit dishearting. I mean lets face it, now a days the old girl is really used for horny comments made by others in the DCU. If there isnt one comment about her lovely figure every week for DC then I’d be shocked that comics isnt runned by teenagers. But that’s what JSA has done ever since Johns and Ross got on the title. Power Girl isnt just a beautiful woman, she’s a beautiful woman with emotions and hates living in this modern earth. Well give a big purple, smiling God to grant her wishes and now we see her in the ‘new’ Earth-2 layed out in 52 by Grant Morrison.

On an emotional level, this story worked on all fronts as we finally see the wish Power Girl wanted after the events of Infinite Crisis. Johns/Ross wrote the comeback of Earth 2 well, and even if we dont know all of this oddly reference heroes; it does feel like home to anyone who is into the Golden Age era or comics. Plus we also get a good mind-set of a Earth 2 Hunteress and a decent thriller on why we should care that Power Girl is back here in general. Although that could be a problem in the future of this title.

You see, I havent been a fan of this multiverse for quite some time. Hell just reading the first Crisis was enough for me to get several strokes and I was gald to see it disappear. But, of course, DC wants to make us the readers feel challenged and brought back the fucking confusing mess of 52 earths. Don’t get me wrong, so far I havent been swayed to read anything that deals with this nonsense…but since Johns/Ross is more than happy to bring yet another earth into this already convoluted story is a bit of a worry for me.

Sure the JSA has 1000 members right now, but at least they’re balanced in a way were I enjoy seeing this mess of an idea work. But now you add in a completely different cast, with different back history, and a confusing set of Golden Age standards; well the first warning flag has popped up in my mind for the title. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna pick this series up; it’s got lots of even better stories coming to us in the next couple of months. But the idea of bringing more Golden Age heroes into the mix is a story plot that I just dont want to see happening. Bringing back one or two? Fine. But add in a whole planet to an already confusing roster is just too much for me.

Maybe I’m worrying over nothing; but if DC has taught us anything over the last few years: Always worry about any complex storyline they introduce, cause it could bite you in the ass in the end.
