This makes me sound like an incredibly old man, but I love anything with Captain Marvel and his family. I’m only 19 (going on 20) and I just love anything with the Marvel clan. It might be the only Golden Age comics I can read without rolling my eyes.

I mention this because John’s last arc for the series will be about Black Adam and the rest of the Marvel clan. I for one was excited reading of this and for the most part John’s does not disappoint. He writes a good Black Adam, it’s a little muddled at times because Adam’s right now is at a crossroads. Is he a villain or is he an anti-hero? In the same vein of Sinestro, Johns just writes a great villain who will always thinks he’s right, even when the right is slaughtering innocent lives to get what he wants. The stuff in here with the JSA reforming is all fine, but nothing new that we havent seen. Although he only shows up in one panel, Starman steals the entire issue with his appearence.

The only thing I didnt appreciate much was Jerry Ordway’s art. Now it’s a little better here, mainly because we arent flipping back and forth between two artists (like we did for the Power Girl issues). But his faces are still alittle off putting, his Jay Garrick and Black Adam seem to have plastic surgery every other panel. But for the most part it’s good to look at, although why Eaglesham just didnt do this issue is a mystery to me.

This was a nice set-up for the final run of Geoff Johns. Hopefully we get more Marvel goodness in this DC title…..Wow that just sounded completely weird didnt it?
