It wasn’t until I opened this issue that I realized it was Cooke’s issue. I had been looking forward to it ever since the interview I saw here on iFanboy.

I want to be thrilled when I as done with this issue but I wasn’t. I found myself having to go back over the dialogue boxes because there were so many of them which I thought was strange because I haven’t had this problem with Jonah Hex in the past. It’s always been such a strong book in my stack every month and it was a shame that the issue Cooke got wasn’t as good as the recent issues. I know Cooke wanted to do a Canadian story about Mounties but I so would’ve loved to see him draw Jonah Hex in the desert. I think the art could’ve been more interesting simply by having more color.

Still, it was great to see Cooke’s art again. He’s one of my favorites and I’m so so glad that I got to see him draw Jonah Hex’s scarred and tired face. I just wish it had the magic that the Jonah Hex team and Darwynn Cooke could’ve had.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
