I think when fans saw that Fables was set to do a massive crossover I think the mindset was generally that this would be a high-action, high-emotion set piece much like the wars in the Fables homeland where characters were lost and heroes born. That is not what “The Great Fables Crossover” is all about. This crossover is almost a deconstruction of massive events in that there is a god character who can alter the Fables at will, much like a writer can change and re-invent characters after an event like “Civil War” or “Infinite Crisis.” This crossover event is different than any I’ve ever read before and I applaud the gumption to create it.
This is part 8 of 9 and I think this has been the best of the lot. If for no other reason than it shows Bigby Wolf, transformed into a little girl, tearing people apart with his/her bare hands. The image in my head still gives me chuckles. I love this crossover and I anxiously await its finale. Bigby’s back and he’s pissed.
