This is the only Green Lantern feature I picked up, possibly because since I haven't been reading GL, I'm not jaded about the multicolored Lanterns. I'm hoping for an interesting team-up with extreme personalities working together(ish), and maybe that's what I'll get. This issue is mostly devoted to the origin of Kyle Rayner, handily retold for those that don't know him (DC seems to assume that Hal Jordan will be familiar to everyone, but not so much the other Lanterns), while trouble brews on Oa. While Kyle enjoys his new powers, a ring from each part of the emotional spectrum makes its way to Earth to choose him in turn, leaving numerous members of the other Corps abruptly ringless and in pretty bad circumstances. The "theft" of these rings brings the rest of the cast to Earth to recover their allies' rings. That sounds like a light plot, but considering this book takes the time to introduce most of the emotional spectrum and what they mean, it works out as pretty solid length. It won't be new stuff to those who are familiar with the last few years of Lantern material, but new readers will probably find it handy. The scene the cliffhanger promises ought to be pretty great - I'm definitely picking up the next issue at least.
