Kryb might be the best new villain to come out in a long time. She is, without a doubt, the creepiest villain the the DCU. The cover for this issue alone should tell you Kryb is bad news. Even if her intentions are a bit confusing; is Kryb killing these kids just cause they are GL kids, or does she have something else in mind for them?

Either way I had real fun with this issue; probably the best issue out of this four part arc. Peter Tomasi just knows how to write these characters, even if they are some of the weirdest and most ‘alien’ *rim shot* you can have in a comic book. He gives you great personality with each character and the fight sequences are always beautiful to look at. However, I am still not loving this Violet Lantern group. Once again I will mention that the introduction of the Red and Blue lanterns completely overshadow this introduction for the ‘Love’ lanterns. Yes they arent as one dimensional as the Red lanterns, and they have suspect intentions, but overall I just am not won over by this group. Also I must say this is one of the more violent comics to come out. There are some really disturbing moments, like when Kryb kills one of the GL members by shutting her (I guess we’ll call it Baby Cage or) rib cage on herself. So this title isnt for the weak hearted.

Gleason’s pencils for one have had a bit of an improvement here. The expressions and facial movements are still a bit suspect but overall they are good to look at. Gleason, like Tomasi, gives off great characteristics for each character in the book making them all unqiue. His panel layouts are much better this time around and the fight sequences are pretty good overall. But I love the coloring and inking for this title; praise should be going out for Rebecca Buchman (inker) and Randy Mayor (colorist) as well. Cause this is one of the most colorful and kinetic book you’ll see on the stands.

This was a pretty good arc, not as good as the previous with Mongul but still soild. Even if it had some ‘meh’ issues attach to it, Green Lantern Corps is still one of the best titles to come out for DC. With the ‘Blackest Night’ coming closer and closer; you can expect for this title to get serious and even more awesome in the future.
