Maybe it’s because I am not a fan of the Zamaron’s that this issue was iffy, but something was off about this issue. The last issue was pretty mundane and overall it was as entertaining as the last arc with Mongul. Here we have the Guardians and Zamaron’s talking about how the latter group is now the Violet Lanterns.

It’s basically the same old, ‘we dont trust you’ and ‘you’ll regret this’ type of meeting. Nothing really big happenend outside of that meeting. There was something about a yellow lantern taking babies but overall it was pretty forgettable. I just dont see how the Violet Lanterns are considered that much of a threat. Although we do learn what they do to members of Sinestro Corps, it doesnt have the same impact as introducing the Red Lanterns.

The art got considerably better and it no longer looks cartoonish like the previous issue. But again this mini arc hasnt been anything worth to shout about it. It’s an introduction to another Lantern group, but again it doesnt have the same impact that the one shot Red Lantern issue did. This is still a great series, but it definitely feels like a step below from what the last arc gave to us with Tomasi.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good

  1. Well, I don’t know if it’s a fair comparison to hold the Violets up against the Reds.  The Red Lanterns were a completely new corps, whereas the Violet Lanterns, as it were, are re-invented, and something known about all along.  Still, something impactful would have been more interesting than a diplomatic meeting.

  2. @Templar: Well I admit when you compare the introductions of Red and Violet, they are drastically different….But if we’re gonna be introduced to each color in seperate arcs, then you need to give me some ‘wow’ factor to get me hooked. Heck the Blue Lantern was rushly introduced in that one-shot last week and that was much more fun to see then these two issues.
