I cried a bit. Right before the end, when his mother died. That's a good sign. A comic book that can evoke those feelings in you is something very special. Green Lantern is by far my favorite character in the DCU and yet, I didn't know much about him. This issue remedied that a bit. We see Hal Jordan before he became a Lantern, even before he became a jet pilot. We see him growing up. We see him as a human being. And as Josh remarked in his review, it's not about what is right or wrong. It is about being a person, making a stand for oneself. He made decisions, period. That's what people do. A quick word to the art in this issue: Out-f**cking-standing! Ivan Reis really nailed it. Every beat, every expression was spot on. And the splash pages knocked it out the park. This issue really cemented my view of Green Lantern as the greatest Super-Hero. I can relate to Hal Jordan on a very personal level, since I've been through something very similar just a couple years ago. Obviously minus the jet pilot thing. And this "greatest weapon in the universe": never seen that either! But really, who cares about those things anyway? ;-)
