All I have to say is Damn.  I’ve read Hal’s origin what seems like dozens of times before, but this was really good.  Johns seems to be taking this book from fantastic to some word that needs to made up that sounds better then fantastic.  May I suggest Awesomeriffic?

If you can’t guess I really love Green Lantern.  I was happy to read a new take on his origin and even though I felt it didn’t seem completely new it did add aspects I had never seen before.  The way his older brother treats him along with how his younger brother adores him.  We also see how crazy of a pilot he was to begin with.

The thing I enjoyed most about this book is that even though his family had problems, you can see that he really cares about them all.  He goes to great lengths to be able to see his mom one last time.  Man I love that character.

I also really like Reis’s art on this book.  I hope that he sticks on it a while later.  While McKone was great I really think Reis is btter suited for this book.

I really can’t say anything bad about this issue.  I could have gotten this book and it would have made up for my stack last night.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
