*blows a giant raspberry*

My god does this comic suck. I mean come on now, how could a formula like this not work?

Paul Dini + Ladies of Gotham + Cheesecake art= Great comic right?

Wrong. With just three issues in I can already say this could be the worst comic out on the stands right now. For one reason only: This title has no purpose. I might not be a fan of Detective Comics right now, but there is a reason for it existing. Red Robin is the second worst (in my eyes) with the Batman: Reborn relaunch. But at least Tim as somewhat of a purpose of having a new persona. What does this title do?

Just giving us TnA and that’s about it. Actually I should state that this issue doesn’t even involve the ‘Sirens’ and for some reason this is a Riddler issue. Now don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Riddler fan. Paul Dini is the reason Riddler is existing right now. But this sudden change with characters makes no sense. Why the hell is this not in ‘Streets of Gotham’? This is a Streets of Gotham one issue story, or a Detective Comics story from a few years ago. Unless Riddler is suddenly a ‘Siren’ then this was a pointless issue.

Then we get to the whole reason this issue exists: The medicore cheesecake art. Oy, I cannot stand this March guy anymore. He is a niche artist and while I can appreciate his covers and some of his interior work. This comic is just a mess anatomy wise and pacing. Considering males are the main focus it’s safe to assume he can’t draw them well. Batman and Riddler are off model a bunch of times. But what does help is the women, who are very well endowed but other then that look pretty ugly. That lady who runs, what I assume is a book store, yeah I’m sure that’s how women dress all the time casually.

You know what worst about this issue? We’re only three issues in and Dini isn’t even the writer! I don’t know who this Lobdell guy is but considering I could mistake him for Dini, it doesn’t really matter. Maybe Dini is just as embarrassed about writing this title as I am on reading it. Here’s another title that is offically dropped. I advise anyone to not waste their money on this anymore. Oh well, I guess the honeymoon with Batman: Reborn is offically over….Or is it?

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 2 - Average

  1. You didn’t really review the comic.

You did a review of the series that didn’t really apply to this issue.

You got passion, but it overwhelms your senses.

  2. I couldn’t stand March’s art when the series first started, but I’m actually getting used to it now.  It seems like he is getting a little better at doing his job.

I’m not droppin yet.  I still think it’s better then Action which carries a $4 cover price!

  3. @Scorp: Eh, he talked about the Riddler being in it, said it was an out-of-the-blue one-shot, and mentioned a scene in a "book shop" and talked about how several characters are drawn. Those things were a review of this issue. It’s better than the one-paragraph "This issue rocked!!!"/"This issue sucked!!!" that so many reviews are.

  4. I thought I did a nice blend of judging the issue and the series as a whole. Considering it’s my last I should just review it as a whole. In fact, the first two issues are the same with this being slightly different.

I understand your complaints @Scorpion but I still stand by this review.

  5. So mentioning that it is a Riddler story and mentioning that there is a woman in a bookstore means this review addressed the story, which was given a 1?

Cool, and I stand by my review of your review.

  6. @Scorpion: You can feel however you want to feel.

  7. I am fairly happy I didn’t buy this issue.  The first two were not very enjoyable (in my opinion) and it sounds like this one wasn’t any better.  Dini just seems a bit off.  Maybe he is working on something else.

  8. The purpose of this book is total ridiculous fun. Smile.

  9. @cactus: Let me know when the ‘fun’ actually happens
